Our Verdict

The Mammut Hiking V Shorts offer a good blend of durability and comfort. They have a soft, stretchy fabric that feels airy but doesn’t skimp on resilience. At 184g (medium), they’re well-suited to longer days and dry quickly after exertion or passing showers. The cut is relaxed without being baggy, and the material moves well, whether striding out or scrambling.

The pocket setup is functional—two side pockets with secure zip closures and a seat pocket round out the storage. I found the waistband comfortable under a hip belt, and the UPF 50+ rating is a nice bonus.
