A useful gadet that does the job of dispersing the light from your head torch whilst weight less than a tent peg.

Montbell says

This simple yet innovative shade allows you to turn most headlamps into a backcountry lantern. By using 30-denier polyester fabric and a reflective inner cone we give you a compact, glass free way to create adequate camp area lighting. When not in use the lantern folds flatly and rolls up to a small, compact size. *Not compatible with the Mini Headlamp.

Our Verdict

Montbell’s Crushable Lantern Shade is a useful accessory that is lightweight enough to warrant its place in any backpackers kit list. It really works and provides a much nicer ambient light in your tent, perfect for reading and performing close-at-hand tasks like cooking.
